Making Every Contact Count (MECC)
MECC is a concept that aims to improve lifestyles and reduce health inequalities by using every opportunity to promote health and well-being. This is achieved through the use of evidence-based approaches which range from brief advice to more advanced behaviour change techniques. The training supports the development of workforces to ensure confidence and competence in encouraging and supporting the population they service to make informed choices about their health-related behaviour and lifestyle. MECC is a framework which enables the systematic promotion of health and well-being and a means for embedding it into the culture of organisations.
A range of training options are available to meet the individual needs of organisations, including MECC Train the Trainer courses.
Innovative Health can support local authorities, trusts and third sector organisations in gaining Royal Society of Public Health (RSPH) accreditation for the MECC training programmes they commission.
